The Tacoma is offered at seven trim levels: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, Trail Special Edition, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, and Limited. For the 2023 model year, it also gets two new appearance packages for the SR5 trim: SX and Chrome.

Rugged capability

Under the hood of the 2023 Toyota Tacoma is a standard 159-horsepower four-cylinder engine or an optional 278-horsepower V6 engine. When equipped with the tow package, V6-powered Tacoma trucks can tow up to 6,800 pounds. All-wheel drive is offered as an option on the Tacoma Limited and comes standard at all TRD trim levels.

These TRD models — which include the TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, and TRD Pro — are specially designed to provide superior off-road capability. The range-topping TRD Pro has standard FOX^® internal bypass shocks, a factory lift kit, aluminum skid plates, and all-terrain tires. It also packs useful navigational features like Crawl Control and the Multi-Terrain Monitor, which make it easier to get around obstacles without damaging your truck.

Upscale interior

The new Toyota Tacoma has all the features you need to enjoy elevated everyday convenience and comfort on the go. The Smart Key System with Push Button Start allows you to lock, unlock, and start the pickup without even taking the key fob out of your pocket. On V6 models, the leather-wrapped steering wheel gives the truck a luxurious feel. On Limited models, leather upholstery and a JBL^® sound system are joined by 10-way power-adjustable front seats to create a truly upscale experience. The Tacoma also gets standard dual-zone automatic temperature control and a one-touch power-opening rear window, which you’ll find useful for accessing the back of the bed or simply creating a draft on a hot, but not-too-hot Texas afternoon.

Advanced connectivity

Every new Tacoma pickup features an infotainment system with hands-free Bluetooth® connectivity, Amazon Alexa, and Apple CarPlay^® and Android Auto™ smartphone compatibility. The system runs on a 7-inch touch-screen display on the base model and on an 8-inch touch screen at every other trim level. Combined with several USB ports and optional wireless device charging, it’s easier than ever to stay connected on the go.

Smart safety

Thanks to the Toyota Safety Sense™ P suite of advanced driver assistance systems, the 2023 Toyota Tacoma has more standard driver assistance technologies than any other pickup truck in its class. TSS P comes with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and lane departure alert. That’s in addition to many other smart safety features the Tacoma offers, such as blind spot monitoring and a rear parking assistance system powered by sonar technology.

Cabs and utility

The Toyota Tacoma is most often purchased with an Access Cab and 6-foot bed or a Double Cab and either a 5- or 6-foot bed. The Access Cab features two full-sized doors and two smaller rear doors, with seating up to four. The Double Cab uses four full-sized doors all around and has roomier seating for five. Further back, the bed features composite lining and multiple tie-down points to enhance durability and practicality. The Tacoma also offers a lockable and removable tailgate, and most models have a 120-volt outlet as well.

New packages

For 2023, the SR5 trim is offered with a new SX package previously exclusive to the SR trim, which includes several blacked-out elements to give the truck a bolder look, like black wheels, overfenders, badging, exclusive bed graphics, and more. For a different kind of style, the Chrome package has got you covered with chrome-finished door handles, exhaust tips, and standard leather-wrapped shift knob.
