2023 Toyota Crown Preview

2023 Toyota Crown Preview | Robbins Toyota | Nash, TX

The Toyota Crown is back. For the 2023 model year, Toyota’s most luxurious full-size car arrives to replace the Avalon, bringing with it a unique exterior design and first-class cabin. Here’s a little preview of what you can expect when the car launches in late 2022 or early 2023.

Unique body style

The 2023 Toyota Crown is a blend between sedans and crossovers. It has a ride height of 60.6 inches (compared to 56.9 inches for the Camry) and special rear multi-link suspension tuning designed to maximize agility while enhancing ride quality. Next to other cars on the road, the Crown stands out as being unlike anything else. It’s like a high-riding sedan — one with beautiful character lines and eye-catching two-tone paint options.

Two hybrid powertrains

You can choose between two capable hybrid powertrains for the Crown. One is the fourth-generation Toyota Hybrid System, which combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with two electric motors and uses intelligent variable valve timing technology to deliver excellent fuel economy. The other is a HYBRID MAX system, the first of its kind for a Toyota sedan. It combines a turbocharged four-cylinder with two electric motors, one at the front and one at the rear, producing 340 horsepower and earning a Toyota-estimated 38 mpg combined.[1]

Standard all-wheel drive

All 2023 Toyota Crown models get standard electronic on-demand all-wheel drive made possible by the rear-mounted electric motors. It’s able to divest up to 80 percent of all power to the rear wheels. With the multiple available driving modes, you get the fuel economy of a front-drive car when cruising, the maneuverability of a rear-wheel-drive car during spirited drives, and the stable acceleration of AWD in low-grip driving conditions. Most Crown models use an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission, but the Platinum is offered with a direct-shift six-speed automatic that maximizes responsiveness and comes with paddle shifters.

Luxuriously equipped cabin

The new Toyota Crown provides an elevated level of luxury. Dual-zone climate control, heated front seats with lumbar support, simulated leather, and a 12.3-inch color multi-information display all come standard. Authentic leather is standard on the Limited and Platinum trim, as well as ventilated front seats and heated rear seats, a panoramic moonroof, and tasteful in-cabin LED lighting that gives the Crown a premium overall feel.

High-tech connectivity and infotainment

The Toyota Crown’s next-gen multimedia system is totally uncompromised. Every model features a 12.3-inch touch-screen infotainment system with support for cabin Wi-Fi, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration, an intelligent Toyota AI assistant that you can call upon with wakeup phrases like “Hey Toyota” and “OK Toyota,” over-the-air updates, and cloud-based navigation. The Crown features two USB-C ports at the front and two more at the rear, wireless Qi charging, and on the Platinum grade, a Bird’s Eye View Camera with Perimeter Scan.

Premium audio experience

Toyota’s commitment to making the Crown a true sanctuary on wheels is evidenced by the car’s 11-speaker JBL® sound system, which packs a rear subwoofer and eight-channel amplifier, and was tuned acoustically for the Crown to match its unique vehicle characteristics. That’s just half of the experience, though. The other half is the noise reduction provided by acoustic glass, sound absorbing pads, and various other insulating measures that Toyota used to enhance cabin quietness. It’s the perfect sound stage for a high-quality system or a peaceful drive home.

Intelligent driver assistance

All 2023 Crown models are equipped with Toyota Safety Sense™ 3.0, the updated version of the automaker’s suite of driver-assistance systems. It includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist and lane tracing assist, and automatic high beams. All Crown sedans also feature a rear seat reminder, blind spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert, and hill start assistance.
